Removing patches

When a 2D grid’s neighbor connectivity settings are established, a Patch property is created for the grid. To set the neighbor connectivity of a 2D grid, see Specifying 2D grid connectivity settings.

If you have identified small patches of nodes that need to be removed from a 2D grid, you can use the Remove Patches tool to perform the removal. After handling the patches, if other nodes or groups of nodes exist that still need to be removed, you can use the other Removal tools.

To remove patches:

  1. Open the tool (prepare > Post-Processing Tools > Removal > Remove Patches).
  2. From the Model drop-down list, select the source that contains the 2D grid you want to remove the patches from. All the 2D grids in the source are shown in the area below.
  3. Check the checkboxes next to the grid or grids you want to remove patches from.
  4. In Minimal patch area, set the threshold value for the area of the patches. All nodes of the patches which have a lateral area less than this value will be removed.
  5. Click Apply or OK to remove the patches.
